snc-sleigh

Saratoga & North Creek Railway’s sleigh at The North Pole has it’s own unique story. The sleigh was built at the turn of the century by The Sturtevant-Larrabee Company Carriage & Sleigh Builders which was founded in Binghamton, N.Y. in 1891. In 1904 the company had sold over 6,000 sleighs through New York State alone!

Look for his Believe bell, just below his chin! Donations of $3. are appreciated for the Swayze Woodruff Memorial Mid-South Scholarship Fund.  Peppy is located past the gazebo, near the steps leading to cross the train tracks to board the Polar Express.

Last weekend all our Dancing Chefs practiced their delivery for hot, hot chocolate and cookies. Merry sounding “ho, ho, ho!” was heard when Santa stopped in to check on the Polar Express crew, preparing for their first official departure from Batesville Train Station on November 18th. Elves scampered about humming and singing Christmas songs and the Conductor could be heard shouting a hearty , “All Aboard!”

They’ll be practicing this Friday, too, then busily decking the halls of this Polar Express train! Everyone will be snapping photos and using the #PolarExpressMS hashtag, and we hope you will, too as you prepare for your ride to the North Pole!

Cape Cod Central Railroad

Texas State Railroad

The town of Palestine will be welcoming guests of The Polar Express Train Ride this holiday season by offering a festive and unique holiday shopping experience on Main Street. There will also be a variety of food and wine events, Frost Fest, the Christmas Parade of Lights and so much more! we are told by Mary Raum, Palestine Visitors Center Director.

THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride in Wolfforth, TX

Last year was the first year the polar express did the Deaf Student Train. Lubbock ISD serves over 40 students from all over the South Plains who are Deaf, not just Hearing impaired. When students arrive at the station they are greeted by Chefs and Waiters who communicate with the students using sign Language. Once they board the train they are greeted by a Conductor who also speaks to them using Sign Language. The beginning Songs and Dances incorporate Sign Language to “sing” the songs to the students. The Story is “read” using sign language. When Santa and the elves come on board, the magic of the train comes alive as SANTA himself speaks to the kids using sign Language. This is an experience many children have never had the opportunity to participate in because they would not be able to hear any of the production. When The Chefs, waiters, conductor, Elfs and Santa are able to communicate directly with the kids, their faces light up with total surprise.

That’s all for this week.
